Please, stop.
So here's my thought: there is no sane reason for anyone to buy Alfredo Sauce in a jar. It is insanely easy to make at home. Plus, generally speaking, jarred sauce is AWFUL. The only sauce that you should use that comes in a jar is the Thai Green Curry sauce from Trader Joes. In fact, you can eat all the foods at Trader Joes- jarred or not. (That's a post for another day.)
So, we purchased some Perline pasta with Proscuitto from Trader Joes (delicious eats, on their own.) the other day, and L says to me, "It says it's good with Alfredo Sauce. We should buy some Alfredo Sauce." I might have guffawed. Actually, I think I just said, "Ok, honey... we'll have Alfredo with it." I failed to pick up some heavy cream at the time, so I have been dreaming about this amazing sauce all week. L picked up the heavy cream last night, so the Alfredo sauce of my dreams finally came to fruition.
So.. when I cook, I just throw stuff in a pan usually and hope that it turns out for the best. Most of the time, it does... So this is what I used:
1 Stick of Butter
5 Cloves of Garlic diced
Two Cups of Heavy Cream
Three Cups (Roughly) of Parmesan Cheese
Freshly cracked Pepper
I melted the butter on medium heat in a heavy, high walled frying pan. (I have a severe lack of sauce pans...but if you have sauce pans, you should use one.) Once the butter was melted I added the garlic and let that soften for about a minute. I slowly added two cups of heavy cream, and whisked everything together for about a minute. Then I started adding the cheese. I honestly don't know exactly how much cheese I used... I just kept adding cheese until I felt like the sauce was as thick as I wanted it. It was roughly three cups... could have been less, could have been more. The important thing here, is to add the cheese a little bit at a time. whisk until completely incorporated, and then add more cheese... until you feel like you have enough. Add some freshly cracked pepper, and then put this sauce on everything you shove in your face. Because it's that good. L may or may not have found me slyly licking my bowl when I was done with my pasta last night. He also might have made a snarky comment about how I should eat more if I was still hungry instead of licking the bowl.
I think I might have even dreamt of Alfredo sauce last night, which left me thinking about it all morning. So, breakfast- Fried Egg, on top of a whole wheat english muffin. Alfredo sauce and crushed red pepper flakes on top. Best. Breakfast. Ever.
