Day 7- Dear Dumplings.. you are an elusive beast.
So, nearing lunch time, I checked my handy dandy iPhone App (Tweat.it) and found a wealth of trucks in the area. There were, no joke, eight of them. I waffled back and forth between Indian and Cuban for a long time... but then, in honor of my friend Denise's love of Grilled Cheese... I decided to head to Milk Truck- which is a Grilled Cheese truck. Only, on the way there, I passed the Rickshaw Dumpling Truck!!!! But it wasn't open!!! (Sad face) So, I kept on.. determined to get a grilled cheese. Only.. guess what? The Milk Truck wasn't where they said they'd be. So, determined that I was going to have a delicious lunch... I kept walking... and came upon the Cupcake Truck... based on the experience I had last week with the Salted Caramel cupcake, I decided at the very least, I should indulge in a cupcake.
Enter the Girlscoutesque Samoa cupcake from The Cupcake Crew. Those poor little crack pushing children have a better tasting cookie. I know, the cupcake looks amazing... but it was amazingly bland! $4.00.. I was upset... it had so much promise... it looked so chocolatey and delicious. (Sad face.)
So, after I left the Cupcake truck, I continued on my jaunt to find delicious lunch. I stopped by the Indian Truck, The Cuban Truck, The Rocco DiSpirito Truck, AND the Souvlaki truck. None of them were open yet... so I went back to my desk and planned my attack.
I wanted the damn dumplings. So, I took a chance and walked back to Rickshaw (Armed with a Pen and a Post-it to leave them a nasty note if they weren't open!!!) and they were open!!!
I opted for the chicken and thai basil dumplings which came with a Peanut Satay dipping sauce. These were AMAZING. Well worth the three week wait... and the $6.00 I spent for six large steamed dumplings (and sauce.)
