Day 13- The world would be a peaceful place if more foods were served on wafels.

Waffles. Remember a few weeks ago, the joy.. nay, jubilation I had at the fried chicken waffle I enjoyed? There's another truck in town called Wafels and Dinges, and they make really good Belgian things.
I wanted their de Bacon & Syrup Wafel..with a description like, "Scandalous and pretty much illegal in Belgium. Awesome in NYC!" why wouldn't I want it? There was a problem with their Belgian Waffle maker, so the guy running the show on the truck suggested that I get their Liege Wafel with Strawberries, Whipped Cream, and Spekulloos Spread. (I had no idea what this spread was, but a google search tells me it's a vegan peanut butter alternative. The description I found said that it was a carmelized gingerbread cookie spread.  I'd been trying to think all day of how to explain it. It was the color and texture of peanut butter... and delicious.)  I opted to take his word for it... he is the wafle connoisseur, after all. So I went with the Liege. It looked a little bit like this:
I know I say this a lot.... (My mother would tell you that I say it damn near every day...) This was the best thing I have ever eaten. It was crispy and still light.... and that Spekulloos spread damn near made the entire thing.  I think I will go back next week to get the bacon... because.. really.. what ISN'T made better by Bacon?  (A recent conversation I had on facebook with my friends says that everything is, in fact, better with bacon.)
Wafels and Dinges also wins for best packaging. The waffle was nice and cozy in it's box while I carried it back to my office. Which is great, since I also stopped at the coffee truck and got a Mocha to enjoy with my Wafel.
Peaceful, Giant-Fan-On-The-Ferry-less Wednesday? You did not disappoint.
